Banana is abundant in Cambodia; people have many ways to turn it into use. Besides eating the mature banana fruit, the local people turn into many forms of snack, below are some examples of how banana is eaten.

ចេកអាំង
In this picture, banana is peeled and grilled/dried until it becomes dry enough for eating. Usually, people will dip the skewer of banana in to a solution of salty water (water + salt + seasoning) before grilling it.

ចេកអាំង និង នំអន្សមអាំង
The picture above contains two kinds of snack that both of which made from banana. The green one is called "នំអន្សមអាំង" (Orn Sorm Aing) made from sticky rice, banana, bean, and shredded mature coconut, and it is wrapped with banana leaves before being grilled.

In the picture below, banana is cooked with the sugar (palm sugar will make the color like in the picture). It tastes very good, for this kind of snack or dessert, almost mature banana will be preferred to the very ripe one, because it will leave a kind of bitter taste that could add another flavor during chewing. :)

Fried banana (picture below) can be cooked by simply frying the banana or dip it with flour first before frying it. Mostly the dipped-flour fried banana is preferred and is very popular in Cambodia.

There are some snack stalls in Phnom Penh (along Kampuchea Krom blvd.) where you can buy the dipped-flour fried banana. The price is reasonable (1000 Riels = $ 0.25 per each banana).
